Last Monday, the Biomedical Society attended a virtual lecture on Anaesthesia by Tom Shane at the University of East Anglia.
One of the highlights that spiked the pupils’ interest was being shown the procedure of a tracheostomy, when a breathing tube is placed into the trachea to provide oxygen when a person is unable to breathe normally due to anaesthetic or extreme physical trauma.
Pupils also learnt about the different types of anaesthetic and their effect on the body.
