Joining Mount Kelly Prep — Years 4 to 8
Starting a new chapter is always an adventure, and we’re here to make the transition to Mount Kelly Prep smooth, supportive, and inspiring.
Starting a new chapter is always an adventure, and we’re here to make the transition to Mount Kelly Prep smooth, supportive, and inspiring.
Children joining us from Year 4 to Year 8 become part of our dynamic and nurturing Prep School. Entry before Year 7 is informal, there are no written assessments, but we warmly invite every child to spend a taster day with us. They’ll join their year group, take part in lessons, enjoy lunch, make friends, and begin to discover what makes life at Mount Kelly so unique.
This day isn’t just an opportunity for our teachers to get to know your child in the classroom, more importantly, it’s a chance for your child to feel the energy, curiosity, and care that defines our community.
You’ll also meet Laura Tabb, our Head of Prep, who will personally guide you through the experience and answer any questions you may have about life in Years 4 to 8.
For children joining in Years 7 or 8, there is a more formal entry process, including assessments that help us understand your child’s academic journey so far. These will be arranged early in the application process, alongside a review of school reports, and used to plan the best next steps in their education. Wherever possible, we’ll ensure the assessments are relaxed, age-appropriate, and scheduled at a time that suits your family.
We encourage families to visit at any stage, whether you’re just beginning to explore options or already looking ahead to Year 9. During your visit, you’ll have a tour of the Prep, and you’re very welcome to see the College too, meet the Head Master, Guy Ayling, and connect with members of our academic team. You are very welcome to visit on our annual Discovery Day, or we’ll happily arrange a bespoke tour and schedule assessments at your convenience.
