Raising Funds for ShelterBox

Posted: 22nd September 2017

Following the recent destruction caused by hurricanes Irma and Maria, and the earthquake in Mexico, Mount Kelly pupils are raising vital funds for disaster relief charity, ShelterBox.  Year 8 pupils Tyler Hodgson and James Lamb gave a compelling presentation this morning during Prep assembly, while at the College the School House girls also spoke of the essential work of ShelterBox.  All pupils at both Prep and College have received a bottle of water which they are asked to fill with small change over the coming week.

The charity sends sturdy green ShelterBoxes to disaster zones, which contain family-sized tents specially designed to withstand the elements and provide people with temporary shelter until they are able to start the process of rebuilding a home. Their kits and boxes also contain the items that help transform shelter into a home, such as cooking sets, solar lights and activity sets for children.
