Geography Field Trip for Local Primary

Posted: 21st November 2019

Mount Kelly's Geography department took a group of keen young geographers from Lamerton Primary School out on to Staple Tor for some geographical fieldwork this week. They learnt all about the structure of the earth, rock classification, how Dartmoor was formed and its geological history.  A good hike was followed by an investigation into the formation of the Tors and the geology of the area, combined with field sketching and rock identification.

It was a beautiful Devon day and the pupils were very enthusiastic in their studies, keen to learn and thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon out on the moor.
