On Friday 25 September, we were delighted to welcome Mike Reeves from the Conway Merchant Navy Trust to Mount Kelly. Mike joined us for assembly, where three pupils gave an outstanding presentation to the whole school about their Tall Ships voyage over the summer.
They spoke confidently about their experiences, the challenges they overcame, and the valuable skills they developed during their adventure at sea.
Following the assembly, staff and guests gathered in the Boardroom, where the pupils delivered a further presentation highlighting the impact of the voyage and reflecting on what they had learned. In recognition of their achievements, they were presented with three British Admiralty (BA) navigation charts, generously donated by Conway. Produced by the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton, Somerset, these charts form part of the organisation’s extensive portfolio of over 3,500 navigation charts.
We are also extremely grateful to the Conway Merchant Navy Trust for donating three boxes of books to the school library. Reflecting this year’s theme of Sport, these resources will be a fantastic addition to our collection and will be enjoyed by pupils across the school.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mike Reeves and the Conway Merchant Navy Trust for their continued support and generosity, helping to inspire our pupils through both maritime heritage and educational opportunities.
