Plymouth Spring Open Meet

Over 100 Mount Kelly swimmers took part in the Plymouth Spring Open Meet over the weekend and, following some exceptional performances, came away with the Top Club Award winning 56 Gold, 52 Silver and 51 Bronze medals.

The competition acts as the first weekend of the 2020 national qualifying window as well as the last chance to qualify for the 2020 British Championships. In addition, many of our younger swimmers were looking to qualify for the South West Regional Championships in the first long course competition of the season.

Highlights of the event included four new British Championships qualifying times from Theo (400m Freestyle), Jack (200m Backstroke) and Scarlett (200m and 400m Freestyle).

We also had two swimmers head to Sunderland for the National Junior Para Swimming Championships. Alex and Seb both produced some excellent performances, with Alex setting some great personal best times in the 100m Backstroke and 400m Freestyle and Seb winning a Silver medal in the 50m Butterfly. Both athletes will now continue to prepare for the British Para-Swimming International Meet to be held at the London Aquatic Centre in early April.
