GCSE Art Field Trip

On Tuesday 24 September, 15 pupils GCSE Art pupils traveled to St Ives, where they enjoyed a sketch tour at the Barbara Hepworth Museum, learning about the incredible life led by the artist and drawing a range of her sculptures in a variety of ways.

Pupils then visited Tate St Ives, viewing the work of other local artists including Alfred Wallis, Patrick Heron, Peter Lanyon and Ben Nicholson. The large exhibition space showcased the work of installation artist Otobong Nkanga who creates narratives that dwell on memory, environment, and the postcolonial histories embedded in her home country.

The day was finished off with some exciting sketch work in the rain!
