DW Waterside C

The Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race squad travelled to Wiltshire on Saturday afternoon for the first race of the season: Waterside C.

On Sunday, our paddlers raced against other schools and canoe clubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal, over a distance of 26 miles, in glorious weather.

Waterside C is a vital part of the preparation for the DW event and all our crews had a good day on the water, finishing within their target window. Our mixed crew of Daisy and Jack narrowly missed out on a first place in the Junior Mixed K2 category, covering the course in just over four hours. The race also provided an opportunity for parents to familiarise themselves in the role of supporting paddlers by ensuring that they are fuelled and hydrated along the course.

Waterside D follows next weekend, with 36 miles of paddling to cover.
