Changing Places

students on a street

Year 12 Geography pupils conducted fieldwork in Tavistock as part of their A Level Geography curriculum. Focusing on the Changing Places topic, pupils investigated the economic, social and technological shifts impacting shopping habits and assessed the extent of retail change in the town.

Through questionnaires and land use mapping, pupils aimed to determine the resilience of Tavistock’s high street in the face of evolving consumer behaviour. This hands-on research will provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing traditional retail centres in the modern retail landscape. The findings will be analysed and presented as part of their A Level studies.

This was a great opportunity for students to identify how Tavistock is trying to buck the trend of High Street decline and was an ideal opportunity to visit some of the fantastic retail shops and the recently awarded Britain’s Best winning Pannier Market in Tavistock,” said Mr. Chris Prettejohn, Teacher of Geography and Business and Economics (College) and Partnerships Lead.
