Art & Photography Trip

GCSE and A Level artists and photographers undertook a research trip to London on Friday 2 February.

The Tate Britain provided pupils with a huge amount of inspirational evidence, from traditional English romantic painters like J M W Turner to modern day painters of intimate and tender narratives such as Kenyan-born Zeinab Salah. Pupils were able to see first-hand the works of Francis Bacon, Henry Moore, Damien Hirst, Antony Gormley and more, whilst our photographers viewed the work of Andreas Gursky, Wolfgang Tillmans, Annie Leibovitz and Steve McCurry.

The National Portrait Gallery and the Taylor Wessing exhibition offered further inspiration and an opportunity to compare photographs of the past to those of modern day. The painted portraits of celebrities, politicians and royalty provided a plethora of creative influence for our pupils.
