Marine Conservation Seminar

Dr Nicola Quick delivered a fascinating seminar to Upper Prep pupils this morning about Marine Conservation.

Dr Quick is a lecturer in Marine Conservation at the University of Plymouth and her research focusses on how marine mammals use acoustic signals, as well as how anthropogenic noise affects their behaviour.

It was a fantastic discussion of blue careers, which covered many areas of our curriculum including sound and applications of Maths. Pupils participated in some hands-on activities with GPS tags and hydrophones, and demonstrated the lengths of different cetaceans using people and string.

Some excellent questions were asked at the end of the seminar and we are very grateful to Dr Quick for sharing her expertise.
