Year 10 linguists spent Saturday 1st March at the University of Plymouth where they had been invited to attend a French Master Class. They thoroughly enjoyed the day, as described below:

Samedi dernier quatorze élèves de la troisième (yr. 10) accompagnés de Mme Brown et de Mme Morel sont allés à l'université de Plymouth car on nous avait invités à participer à une master class de français. Tout le monde s'y attendait avec plaisir, même si on n'était pas sûr du niveau attendu. Aucun souci! La matinée a été un grand succès. Nous avons répondu aux questions du quiz sans hésiter (savez-vous combien de fromages sont produits en France, par exemple, ou combien de 'miles' nous séparent de la côte française?) On a révisé un peu de grammaire (plutôt facile) et on a discuté avec les autres participants afin de collaborer à des exercices de communication. Quelques vire-langues plus tard et la matinée était finie. Nous nous sommes bien amusés et on a bien apprécié l'accent français du prof. Notre seul regret – nous n'avons pas pu prendre de McDo en rentrant à l'école. Nous attendons avec plaisir de refaire l'expérience de la master class plus tard cette année, cette fois-ci à l'université de Exeter.

Following the recent Mount Kelly 11+ Scholarship Assessment Day, we are delighted to announce that there has been much success for pupils from the Prep.

Academic Scholarships have been awarded to Archie Burton, Emma Bowles and Toby Berryman; All-Rounder Scholarships to Joe Rizk and Charlotte Love; Sports Awards to Ben Pitts, Joe Wheeldon, Pippi Harris and Emily Pascoe; the Art Scholarship to Emily Crighton; the Design and Technology Scholarship to Charlotte Tilney; the Music Scholarship to Imogen Shere and a Swimming Scholarship to Jamie Brew.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Headmaster recently hosted a Chinese meal at Jasmine’s Restaurant in Yelverton. The evening was a great success with our Chinese pupils describing it as “a chance to get together as if we were one big family”. The good food and good company ensured there were smiles all round!
