Over the summer, 10 pupils had the fantastic opportunity to sail aboard the Tall Ships Youth Trust Challenger yachts, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Conway Merchant Navy Trust (CMNT).
During this experience of a lifetime, pupils discovered just how much goes into sailing and the level of teamwork and physical effort required on board. For many, this came as a surprise, but it was a challenge they thoroughly enjoyed.
A particular highlight was the night sailing, with pupils setting off at 3:30am and sailing through the darkness before watching the sun rise from the water. They also had the opportunity to explore new places while docked and spend time getting to know their fellow crew members away from the sailing environment.
A huge thank you to the Conway Merchant Navy Trust for sponsoring all 10 pupils, enabling them to enjoy this memorable experience while also completing the Residential section of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
